You need a COUPLER, not a piece of pipe! PVC and ABS is measured ID (inside diameter) and has a 1/4" wall, so a 3" piece of pipe is 3.5" diameter. When you buy the coupler for a 3" pipe, it also has 1/4" wall so you get 4" OD (outside diameter). This will get you by, but you are choking down the size of the intake to 3" by doing this. Get some exhaust tubing if you can help it. I will have some extra tubing here shortly, but it won't be all fancy powdercoated like what Clay is offering.

I ended up using a piece of 4" exhaust tubing (3.875" ID and 4" OD) too, but also the expanded 'joint' section (4" ID and 4.125" OD)

the 3" long 'coupler' is half regular 4" tubing and half the expanded joint. the stock duct on the small end and the filter on the big end.

My 6637 ID was 4.150"+ and needed a damn tight worm clamp, and still came loose a few months later.

I just finished putting mine on this afternoon and had the same experience with a local muffler shop. They just gave me a piece of 4" scrap.

I had mine come off a few days ago. I don't even want to think how long it was like that.

The only thing that I can figure out is that the cold weather caused the filter to come loose. I have had the same filter on since last spring and this is the first problem I have had.
