I am trying to custom my 62 ford shortbed unibody pickup and I am wanting to replace the I-beam suspension with an independant suspension and do not know what suspension will work for the truck. Does anybody know? I am also looking for floor pans also.
First & foremost welcome aboard. I"ve haven't a clue on what type of I beam you can use; however there's a great tech article written under the Tech & Specs forum, covering the various type of front ends used from early 50's thru 64 models I beleive.
Again welcome aboard; I'm sure someone will chime in and tell you better info.
Should have a straight axle in a 62'. Just leaf springs and shocks trapped by axle and frame mounted arms. I have seen a thread here where a guy is fabbing in a late model Crown Victoria IFS. Search IFS in this forum
Hey guys ,I purchased a set of these for my '65 f100. The kingpins seem to fit loosely in the beam. Around .010 under. Their tech says its perfect tolerance. I'm just still leary of it . Has anyone used these and seen this before? I have the pins they call for. Thanks
Have Near Complete Dakota Suspension Components Save Cross Member
I switched vehicles but started assembling a Dodge Dakota IFS for my 1956 F100. It will fit into the mid 60's I have all you need except the cross member.
Take a look at my photo that includes Dakota components all including all the hardware, nuts and bolts, many pieces chromed as you can see. The springs were chromed with a special process to insure integrity of the spring tension. I have purchased a new Power Steering Rack and Energy Suspension replacement bushings. Also, included are New Drilled Front Rotors and a front sway bar. The upper and lower control arms are painted with PPG Black Urethane. I would be willing to sell them at a reasonable
price.

Reason: photo
I placed a Z in my frame for the front suspension. You can achieve a similar stance with the stock frame and drop spindles.
I had those same hubcaps on my truck when I bought it. Took forever to figure out what they came off of (1960 Buick Electra). There was even a thread about it and nobody could figure out what they were.
HI, Howdy, Hello all, I am a new user and would like to get some help with a problem. I bought a 63 F250 2wd to make into a rat/hot rod. I started to pull the front end apart to redo the brakes and found that my right front leaf spring was broken. I want to lower it, so does anyone know what might make a good cheap replacement. thank you for your help.
