Will it eliminate the wastegate opening early? Yes, that is what it is supposed to accomplish.
Will it mess anything up? Yes, if you run the truck hard enough. A stock truck will be fine, a modded truck you will want gauges. The stock turbo isn't happy or efficient above 25 psi. With just an intake and exhaust and the wastegate unplugged I could hit that boost level without much trouble, now that I have a DP Tuner all it takes is a squish of the skinny pedal to pull 25+psi and set the SES light in the blink of an eye.
