Leaking Exhaust Manifold

I've got a leaking exhaust manifold. I know that there was no gasket from the factory. I've done a search but cant find much about them. My question is whats the best way to fix this leak? new manifold, have the old one milled, or the option I'm most interested in-Advance and Autozone both list a manifold gasket set for our trucks-Part#MS93489, 30.99 at advance, made by felpro. Does anyone know anything about this gasket or used it?

Where is it leaking? The up-pipes to the turbo?

There's no gasket there from the factory? Didn't know that. Maybe someone here that has pulled and rebuilt an engine can give you some insight.

I had the same issue with the drivers side rear portion. I did a search and found that the bolts tend to come loose. I tightened them and I havent had them back out again and it has been a year. Try tightening them before you put yourself through all that work. Good luck to you.

I think the PO did the bolt tighten deal and I have a busted bolt. Soon after I bought it I heard a ticking noise and it turned out to be the manifold leaking. It wasn't very loud and I was going to get it fixed when I did some work. Well, when the oil pan rusted and the engine had to be pulled, I decided to get that fixed as well. Turns out it was broken flush to the manifold and decided to send it to a machine shop to be removed. Which of course meant removing the head, so may as well do both.... OK, may as well pressure clean the valve covers too .... and on it goes. Hope to get it back Friday.

I'll try to get in there tomorrow and see if the bolts are tight. One thing that kind of confuses me is that I'm not hearing any noises that sound like a typical leaking manifold. Its obviously coming from there though. I replaced the up pipes a while back when I did my clutch and they're clean at both ends. All the soot is coming from where the manifold bolts to the head
