Gas tank leak- suggestions?

Rear mount 19 gal. tank. I replaced the rotted filler hoses a few months ago and reinstalled new. When I had the tank out the first time I removed and reinstalled the grommet and vent hose. Both were in good condition. The problem is now when I fill the tank especially on a cold day and when the temperature increases the gas expands and overflows/leaks out through/around the vent tube grommet. I sure am not looking forward to dropping the tank again but this needs to stop. What do you think, is it the grommet of is there a restriction in the vent line allowing presure to build and cause the leak? A combination of both?

BTW the vent line goes to the evap emissions canister in the front of the truck.

Suggestions?

Are you running a vented or pressurized gas cap?

Without evap. emissions, it should be vented.

With evap. emissions, it should be pressurized.

It's the stock cap which I believe is pressurized.

That is correct for your application, then.

It sounds like something is preventing the tank from venting. Check the emissions system. The grommet is connected to a rubber hose for the first few feet, then the rest is steel to the canister on the front of the vehicle (it also is rubber the last few feet).

When you repaired the gas tank, did you make sure the filler/vent hose were not kinked?
