I have a 1990 f-250 4X2, 5.0l A4OD trans to start this all off with!
And now one to the question/problem, I got out of my truck today and went to go in the house and I heard the tank pump in my back tank running I thought to my self that's odd only chevs do that so I got back in the truck and started it up and flipped the switch to the front tank and shut the truck down and sure enough the pump in the front tank was running so then I timed it and the pump shuts off after 45 sec to 1 min. So what gives? It literly started doing this after I got home from work today and I've owned this truck for about 4 months now.
Sounds like a sticking fuel pump relay. It's under the hood on top of the driver's side inner fender. When mine did this I was cheap, I drilled a little hole in the top and sprayed it with WD40. Never did it again.
this relay is located beside my air intake on my 91 I6 4.9l. If you are standing beside the right "drivers" front tire then it should be in front of you bout 6 inches from the fender. or about 6 inches toward the cab the air filter box.
if i am wrong please someone chime in and correct me
thanks I'll see about tracking it down........ is this part available from the parts store or do i have to go to the dealership to get one? here is the million dollar question....what caused this to happen????? old, worn out, they just do that some times???
