I just bought one from skipper auto group in texas and I live in a remote part of alaska. Ask a lot of questions, get a oasis, and have them take as many pictures as they are willing. If they wont accommodate you then it probably is not worth it. Just my 2 cents.

That must have cost quite a bit to transport it up there. I would not by anything with that many miles period.
Welcome to FTE. Check out the 7.3 forum for lots of info on this engine.
It doesn't look too bad to me. The 122000 plus miles is nothing for a 7.3 diesel that has been taken care of. I would get an Oasis report and a Carfax. When you open the Carfax attached to AutoTrader, it tells you it has 17 records and an Open Recall, probably for the CPS. The open records could be nothing but I would get a Carfax to be sure.
If you really like the truck and it checks out, make him an offer, and see how bad he wants to sell it. I would offer $10,000. and see what he says. Whatever he comes back with, I would tell him you need to think about it. If he lets you leave without a lower offer, that is probably his bottom price.

Good luck,
Thanks for the advice but whats a oasis report? never heard of that
An Oasis report gives the repair history of your vehicle...any work that has been done at any Ford dealer.
There is a thread in the Forum listing where you can put in your VIN number
and someone will run it for you and pm you the results.

Good luck,
You nailed it. With good maintenance a 7.3 will last a long time and be very reliable. But get someone who is sloppy or just doesn't care and crap can go bad in a hurry! Here is a good reference for buying used. Come on down to the 99-03 PSD forum and poke around- tons of good info and helpful folks!
