Favorite Air Intake?

Hi all, I was just wondering if anyone had any preferences when it comes to air intakes? Is there a specific brand that anyone has found to be better? Is oiled better than not oiled? I just bought a 5.4L 2000 F150 7700 Lariet which i just put a Flowmaster exhaust into and am now looking for an intake system. Appreciate the input!

if your going for looks, buy the pretty one. if your going for performance, put your money back in your pocket.

This topic usually turns into an oil type thread. My take is the same as Steve has, get the chrome one, it looks kewl.... You have a cold air intake on the truck now. A lot of the aftermarket stuff draws heated air from inside the engine bay rather than cold air from the well area. They do make a nice sucking sound when you womp on it though. Added performance? I say no, with sometimes a decrease. A lot of guys swear they can feel the gains. I always wanted a nice chrome setup on my Mustang GT, but always hate to disturb the original OEM one. I still might do that, but I don't expect any performance gains. ( Except that kewl sucking sound when I spank it in 3rd getting on the freeway)

Volant makes a true CAI....it utilizes the fender wall opening and is completely enclosed.

I have seen AIT temps drop after installing mine compared to an open element style as mentioned above. Really, save your money for a tuner like an Xcal-3.....and get custom tunes!

After reading a bunch of threads about these and those throttle body spacers, I just kept my money and put it into the tuner and the electric fan kit. BOTH of those made very noticable gains in performance. I agree the CAI look good, but when money is tight I'd rather go for true performance.
