4.2's; rear gear ratio affecting gas mileage
Gas mileage is important, moreso as prices of fuel creep back up. I would like this thread to reflect gas mileage in F 150's showing the variety of rear gear ratios. 2wd and 4 wd are welcome but please enter your rear gear ratio, the miles driven and the miles per gallon. I would like to see the difference between a 3.30, 3.56 and 4.56 etc. Thank you.
My own truck is an 07 4.2, 2wd, 5spd, 3.30 rear end. I drove about 300 miles and got 17.7mpg Mostly city driving).

I had a 2000 w/ 5 speed and 3.55
It got around 16-17 and 20-21.
My current 2005 w/ auto and 3.55 gets about the same. Maybe just a little lower at 16 / 19-20.
Best ever (for both) was about 23 mpg on long interstate rides at about 65 mph.
OBTW, that's over about 335,000 miles between the 2 trucks.

2000 F150 4x4 with a 5spd and 3.55 gears. I get about 16-17 driving around country roads at about 60mph, but the truck also does a lot of idling as I live on farm. I drive 35miles to school each way at 70mph and I get about 16.5.
Best ever was >19 or so at 55-60mph.
By the way, I have 70,000miles.
