Took the truck to work today, stopped at a light and left when it turned green. I heard a slight tapping and then sounded like an open header on one side. The collector completely came off the primaries. Last time I buy these turds.
I have a set of ebay headers that I bought awhile ago for $125. I'm going to put them on in place of the JBAs. They actually look like they are made better than the JBAs.
I recall having quite a bit of tension on the downtube do to alignment issues.
That WILL do you in over time. When I did my eBay headers, the y-pipe didn't meet the header collectors, and I had to bend it to make it fit. But I made sure it fit up without any tension.
i know i will likely get bashed, but here goes. the banks headers come with a 2pc y-pipe, making the install a snap and zero tension, plus the 5/8" flange welded inside and out don't hurt, then there is the ball and cup (no welded on flange to break off), just an FYI on some of the features i looked for

Why would you get bashed?
For the record, my eBay headers are "ball-and-cup" collectors.
What are you going to do with the jba's when you take them off? I might be interested in buying them from you depending on price and condition. I know the collector come off which does'nt matter. I'm working on putting a v10 in a 92 mustang and need some to modify to clear the steering shaft.
They have some surface rust now, just like you would expect from a decent grade of stainless (better than the stock exhaust system that's "stainless"), but that's after almost 2 years on the truck, and they salt the roads around here a lot in the winter.
Has anyone ever installed the Ebay Y-pipe at the same time they installed headers? Cutting the factory Y might give you a little "flexibility" when installing the headers first then the ebay Y.
