Hoping some can give me thier 2cents. I purchased a 05 f250 ps that replaced my stolen 02.Ithas 60000 mi and oasis report(thanks to many members) was clean with no engine problems and is still under warr. I tow a 24ft toy hauler at most 8500# and 500#in bed most of the time, it's not a daily driver. Tows the flats great @70 when i hit a mild to steed grade east of yuma ,az it shift from 5 th to 3rd or passing , engine revs to 2900-3000 @30 #s and feels like no power. Cant keep 55mph Hand calc milaged is 8-8.5 It pulls the hills no better than my 02 v-10 is this normal .Thanks for any info.
If you really want to fix it, get an EGR delete kit and an SCT X3 tuner with a custom towing tune from Innovative (talk to Eric). You will see drastic approvement with the tuner alone but the EGR delete will help out with towing and a whole boat load of other issues. Good Luck Bro...

I'm no mechanic but this sounds like an issue not a need for an upgrade. Sorry i can't be of more help...
Do you have a lift on it? Do you know what gears you are running? Oversized tires? Anything else you can think of that might possibly affect it is good information to know before throwing an opinion at you.
How steep a grade are you talking about because unless it's straight up a cliff, no that doesn't sound normal if it's a stock truck without lift, bigger tires, etc. I've pulled that much weight up some serious grades before with much better results than that.
What's your boost going up that hill with the load? If it's not making hardly any boost at all then I would say something is going on with the EGR. Lack of power to me points to EGR off the bat without knowing anything else. Clean Oasis report doesn't truly mean that the truck is clean without problems. It improves the odds, but doesn't mean that it is.
If you are stock. Change the fuel filters if they haven't been changed in 10K miles. These engines are very sensitive to fuel flow, pressure and quality.
I'd be taking it in to the FORD dealer and having them check it out...sounds to me like an EGR or turbo problem.... as long as it under warranty, why mess with it.

Hi,
If the performance issue is due to failing injectors or if malfunctioning injectors are suspected to be a culprit, we recommend Hot Shot's Secret as a remedy.
Hot Shot's Secret was developed to address stiction, the common cause of fuel injector failure in the 6.0. It was tested by International and shown to be effective 86% of the time and improve performance for the remaining 14%
Also, if you are hauling heavy duty, we recommend NT Oil Additive for your trans fluid. It is a tremendous friction fighter that helps the trans shift more smoothly and will help extend the life of the trans.

Good luck and we hope you get the problem resolved soon.

Nothing that he has mentioned thus far suggests injector failure or impending injector failure. Now if it's something related to fuel filters and needing to change those, that will affect injectors eventually, but considering it doesn't happen all the time and based on what the OP was mentioning happens during higher load % applications(towing heavy on steep grades) suggests an issue that is sensitive to heavy loads. Usual culprits in this area are EGR and/or turbo(not totally unrelated in some circumstances). I doubt it's a fuel delivery issue as if he was having problems with fuel psi due to injectors or clogged filters, he would for sure be able to notice that towing on the flats going 70mph. Especially since he said can't keep 55mph, if he had an egt gauge I would be willing to bet he was pushing the upper limits of the 1250 reading. This is very familiar to when I had my egr problem. I was hauling a load, the gallery named "Some Heavy 16' Trees", and I was able to go 70,75, 80 mph on the flat stretches, hit a little grade and it dropped down to 40 mph and I was pushing it the entire time. Now all this is just based on what he has mentioned so far, this assessment is subject to change when information changes or is more detailed.
Thanks for all responding. Truck info 4*4 ,4dr, 60,000mi,3.73, does have small lift , but stock tires 265/70/17. Fuel fiters (2) ,oil, transmission filters and fluid all at 59,000. A little more info, When i bought the truck I took it ford dealer to check for trouble or programer. None found , but they did update the computer( which now no they probible de-tuned it to keep me from blowing head gaskets). When towed with it the first time it went through two smaller grades without droping out of fifth gear, when i hit 3rd larger grade it downshifted straight to 3rd gear, rpm whent up to 3100 and boost went really high.On this grade it wont use forth other grades it will. Simuler trucks and loads keep 60mph with extra to spare. Then I changed filters with no change. Its bad when i get passed going up hill by the same truck with twice the load. One more note the first time i towed i got 11.5 mpg and has dropped to 8. Hope this info helps.

I would focus around the y-pipes(up-pipes) and the turbo. EGR issues usually at some point affect the turbo and it translates into power issues that are very noticeable. That's just what my gut is telling me.
