What do you all think? I have a laundry list of things I would like to do, but as are all projects, I have more wants than funds. Larger tires will go on this summer if I can swing it.
Some of the Specs:
460, E40D(Brand New Rebuild),D50,10.25,3.55 gears. The truck is extremely clean for its age. It had been repainted to factory. It has a custom bucket console seats. Carpeted bed kit for camping.
Good lookin older truck right there! Want my opinion, id say loose the cap, and step it up to 33x12.5" if your sticking with stock height. Give her a real nice stance!
Again, great lookin truck, i can only dream about mine lookin that nice!
Rebel, Thanks for the comments. Yes the topper is a Love/Hate deal, but we use it for camping at this time and I can still use it for moving stuff if need be. It has a carpeted bed kit in it, right now my children are small enough that we can all squish in the back for camping.
I would like to put new springs in the front and back, for a 1.5 or so lift. I would like to keep most pretty much stock.

I need new buckets as well...Im 6'4" and 300lbs...They move enough as it is...lol..As far as lift, the guy who I bought it from installed an extra set of leaf springs on the front and it handles 285's no problem..I have a few rust issues right below the ex cab, but just superficial rust in a few spots otherwise..The 460 was rebuilt last summer as well as the trans..I paid 2200..I will try and post some pics later ..Im a noob to 4x4 stuff so will I will be watching your threads.. LOL
I remember campin on the coast in the back of a 79 on a big piece of foam and a sleeping bag, with an aluminum cap.....heavy rain was deafening!!!
Some days, depending on my mindset, I'd like to have one on my Flareside, but they're expensive and I have a huge Jeep tent. So I hafta pass.
But I like your truck....perfect for camping with the extended cab and the raised roof cap.
If it were mine all I would do is step up to some larger more aggressive tires and some off-road lights on the front somewhere, head out into the woods and have a mini vacation!!
I know the trend today is for large, oversized tires but I always thought 4X4 3/4 ton or larger trucks always looked more business and brutish with thin " F.D. brush truck" type aggressive tread tires.
Your black wheels and "truck" tires are cool. Especially with the hubs prominently standing out.

Ditto, but I'd get the same size tires in a more aggressive tread. Awesome looking rig dude!
Although I can appreciate lifts and bigger tires, I have always tried to stay practical for my applications. I will probably go with a 285 or 305 BFG KM2's for fun though. This truck at this time isn't my daily driver so I dont have to worry too much about the implications a mud tire might bring. But as is with most things, I will decide when the money is there.
Thought I would share one of my first F-series trucks also:
Got some extra parts this week, I am thinking about "de-chromifying" the truck. I picked up another grill, headlights, door handles, mirrors, locks, and window bezel really cheap. All of the stuff is in really good condition so I have been thinking about doing a satin black re-paint on the chrome and swapping everything. Thoughts?
I have also considered swapping the amber corners for clear and the roof markers for clear or smoked. Question though, who makes the aforementioned marker for the 87-91 factory markers? When and if I get to it I suppose I can remove one and measure the size of the hole and see if per-chance ones for the Super-Duties might convert. Anyone tried this without it looking "cheesy" or like I spent the day at "JC Whitney's" ?
I like the truck as stock, just curious if it might give it some originality by some minor mods. I also picked up some Cragar Soft 8's to replace the D-hole rims on now. The friggin Red and Blue stripes on them annoy the crap out of me, I still kick myself for allowing them to install them on my truck not knowing about the stripes. WTH? is with the stripes anyhow? But I digress. I think the "ALL-BLACK" Cragars will look good with some 265 or 285 BFG KM2's. Also I think that I am going to try the wheels with-out the chrome centers also. Clean and paint the hubs real nice is my thought. It also annoys me to have brand-new chrome and during the winter have to clean it all the time just to keep it from rusting. I am kind of a "wash-n-wear neatly" time of dude. Anyways what is all of your thoughts on the above???
Oh and I forgot to add, I am looking at building some similiar to but different "BroncoAir" style bumpers, so the bumpers will be no-longer also.
