i currantly have tru dual exhaust on my 90 351w and am going to be putting glasspack(s) on it.... i cant decide if i should put dual glasspacks or run a y pipe and just a single.
if i go single ill run the dual 2.5" into a single 3" if i go dual ill just keep the 2.5" all the way
The single is marginally better for torque, I doubt you would notice a difference between a 3" single and 2.5" duals. I put the single on my truck because everyone has duals. If you like the duals, keep them. If you want a single, go that route. Whatever you do will work fine.
i have heard that a double Y makes the most power even more than an x pipe by double y i mean a 2 y pipes connected so that there is like a 3-5in part of single pipe connecting them. i have never tried this just saw online that some guy dynod a bunch of different thoughts on H-pipes X-pipes y pipes with single exhaust and other stuff
Just bought my '96 and was looking at putting an exhaust on it(all stock now). Didn't want to bother with cats right now, so I was going with cat back single 3" with glasspack. I like the 'stock' look(pipe out the side) and didn't want to be heard 4 miles away either.
I'm thinking now that I might find a set of Mustang stock headers(cheap upgrade) and then go true duals. Nothing fancy, but better flowing then stock manifolds. I don't pull any weight, so not concerned with torque loss. Just looking to maybe increase mileage by a touch.
