Shift fork damage?

Shift fork damage?
85 F150 351 4x4 with NP 435
I'm thinking I have some shift fork damage but wonder has anybody else ever ran into this.
Gear shift will not go into any gear ~ locked up tight as a drum. I automatically assume fork inserts but shouldn't I be able to put it into at least one gear if say the 1-2 fork was damaged?

sounds like the trans may be hung in two gears, if this is a top loader trans. pull the floor and the top hat off look in side and place every thing in neutral including the shift arms, some times if you try power shifts you can jump to the next gear and not come out of the last one.

IIRC you push down and twist 1/4 turn CCW to remove the stick.
Do a google search using "np435 shifter" or 'np435 rebuild' and you'll find a bunch of links including rebuild kits and an expanded view of the trans and parts.
