engine swap

i have a 95 4wd extended cab ranger w/ a 4.0 and auto trans. it was wrecked when i got it but im going to fix the damage and make it my daily driver. i want more power and alot of people swap in a 302 or 351w. i like to be different and want to swap in a 4.6 or 5.4 modular motor. any tips or ideas to make this work?

Modular V8 is too wide, it can be done, but it is MUCH easier to go with a smallblock 302/351. And adapters and parts for small block swap are readily available.

as noted the mod engines are very wide, it has been done in the past but you have to remember that a 4.6 is actually wider then a 460.
A 302 gives these little trucks quite a bit actually.

But if you really want that mod motor there isn't going to be any kits that I know of, it's a build your own deal. But a possible suggestion that might make it easier and maybe almost a bolt in would be to find a V8 explorer with a 4.6 (my 02 has that engine) would be where I would start personally.
