a buddy of mine is having a issue with making a left hand turn and his truck is sounding like the rear left side tire is rubbing the nobbs on something. the tires are not rubbing on anything, only does it with weight in the back of truck and starting from a dead stop. any ideas on what might be the problem. thanks
That's an odd noise for that location. First, I would stand outside of the truck while the noise is reproduced, to verify that it's the rear. Then I might try the same but standing behind it to feel out left or right.
Once you have it a little more narrowed down, pull the wheel and check the brakes and look for shiny spots that the tire might have hidden. It could be the spring bushings rattling around, maybe the ebrake pads grabbing a bit.
you can actually feel the tire vibrating. i was in the truck and my buddy was standing out side with his hand on the wheel i started to go and he could feel it. hes gonna pull the tire tonight
sorry no resolution to this yet. truck still does it, he changed the rear end fluid and it went away for a couple of weeks then came back. if u figure out ur trucks issue post it, and ill do the same. thanks
actually now that i think about it my f350 does it when im pulling my 5th wheel. its a little different sound but it dont sound good. when i pull out of my driveway turning kinda sharp my 5th weighs 10,000lbs. hope this helps ya
If there is a limited slip differential in the truck, was the fluid recently changed? It may need more friction modifier for the LS unit to function properly.
