Which intake? (cleveland)

I have been working on my frame, but I was at a stand still this weekend waiting for parts. Decided to start pulling some stuff out of boxes for the engine. Rebuilt my carb this morning and was bolting everything up but something didn't look right. Previous Owner mounted the manifold backwards. So I pulled it off. While I had it off I started thinking about having to watch my girls play dress up whenever they get new clothes. So for all you guys that have to live throught the above, heres one for us.

Lets play engine dress up. Which intake will work best for me? This will be going into a 1966 F-100. C4 tranny with shift kit, 4.11 trac loc. Engine is a 351 cleveland, DOAE-J, heads are DOAE 4v quench, was told it has a mild street cam. Heres your options from what I currently have:

Torker

Offy 360 (somone removed the center divider)

Elelbrock performer

Offy tunnel ram (I do have a spare hood in case I need to cut a hole)

Question 1: Which intake will work best?

Question 2: There was not a turkey pan, will I benefit from adding one?

Thanks

By all means run the turkey pan, It'll keep the intake cooler.

I say put the tunnel ram on!!! That's the first one I've seen on a 335 series motor! But for all around performance I know that the eddy performer is hard to beat.

Torker will need a 3000 stall converter and may need more cam, Offy 360/no divider will run ratty on low end and need 2000 stall, Performer will work with stock converter but you may be a little over geared, Power Port 360 will need at least a 3500 stall 4k would be better and more cam for sure. a lot more cam.

it's really not a big deal at all to run them all and see what you like. get a set of 'race' style gaskets and coat them in some type of 'release agent', like anti-sieze or bearing grease, i think i've even heard of using PAM spray. just enough so the gaskets won't take a hold and tear when you swap intakes. then for the end seals you can RTV the cork or rubber gaskets to the block only and anti-sieze the top sides, or throw them as far as you can and just use a bead of RTV. i used anti-sieze and RTV only on mine last time figuring it was extremely temporary but it's still on there and not even seeping much less leaking a drop.

after you're done swapping and testing you can do it permanent with the turkey pan if you want to, it will keep it cooler.

why not pull the cam out and look for numbers on it? or with a dial indicator on a rocker arm, and a degree wheel on the crank or a fully numbered balancer you can 'map out' the cam and you'll know exactly what's in there. if you have a substantial cam and not enough stall it'll be a dog and never get up and go like it should.

if the PO had the intake on backwards, was it going into a Pantera? the throttle linkage goes to the front of the engine and the carb is backwards on those.

JBradley's on the right track though, the Blue Thunder would be a great choice, if you had one. 4V's love the large volume runners and the BT will carry enough RPM for you 4.11's. i'm pretty sure a stock cast iron 4V will out run a performer if the rest of the combo is up to it. the Performer is designed to improve low speed velocity, you have enough rear gear that intake velocity won't be a problem with the right stall for whatever intake you choose. (a 4V cleveland with a stock stall and 2.75 gears will have an intake velocity problem.)

not knowing what stall you have, or stock stall, the Performer would be the best choice of the intakes you have but not the best intake if you have enough stall and want to run it. then i'd say the Torker but who knows until you try them all?

MY vote is the tunnle ram but then again its up to you. Add some stall and have at it.

I knew I needed a higher stall. I was planning to go with 2500.

The most recent one that listed on ebay yesterday is something like $500.

Also what is soooo special about the strip dominator. They seem to bring $200-300.

Thanks for all the comments. I'll keep an eye out for a blue thunder.

the strip dommy is considered the best Clevo intake for max output. that it was designed as long ago as it was and still holds that recognition says something too. if you find a strip dommy that goes for $300 or less there's something wrong with it or the seller.

the Blue Thunder goes for a pretty penny too. there are three Cleveland models;

Pantera, the carb flange is flat instead of angled forward $400

Competition HP, no heated choke crossover provision $405

HP, with heated choke crossover $385
