Does it sound like a jet engine, blowing lots of air...? If so this is you EBPV, it helps your truck warm up fast but it will not go anywhere.

Then i would have to agree with Phil up there and say yeah it is just the nature of the diesel. Mine does not like to accelerate at all when it's cold.

Depending on how cold, about 5-10 minutes down the road it usually runs better.

How cold are you talking about? Mine's sluggish, but after a minutes or so it's good. Might be time for fresh oil and tranny fluid.

Another great point, i did just change all of my fluids, so it runs smoothly after only a couple minutes.

Is this a new problem? Is it more sluggish that last year? Injector pump went out?

Yeah that being the case, it should not take more then a few minutes to run normal, once again, depending on how cold it is.

actually just purchased the truck and got it home and started leaking oil, ended up being the injection pump,750.00 for pump alone.i've owned 3 other 7.3's and dont remember them taking so long to warm up,but they might of.This one takes about 3to5 minutes to warm up.

I promise you it wasn't an injection pump we have High Pressure Oil Pumps, switch to syn. and your truck will run alot better but also until it is warm it runs slow because 15quarts of oil takes a bit to warm up and these trucks fire there injectors off of them the draw backs of a HEUI injection system

Yeah your right,it was the high pressure oil pump. The mechanic said there is some electronic sensor or something telling it when to give fuel when it is cold, that might be the problem, dont know if this is bs or not.
