I was driving down arcola ave. here in Regina yesterday morning through a commercial area thinking the limit was 60klm because it wasn't marked. When to my surprise the cops where hinding behind a bulding and waved me into the parking lot to give me a ticket for being 13klm over, apparently it was a 50 zone and is marked farther back before I turned onto the street!! I think a speed trap is just there way to generate some income for the city!!!
ooo nasty. you should go take some pick or a video of the street from where you pulled on to it and where they pulled you over. i always thought arcola was 60km/h, i usually do 70 or more. but with a video of that stretch with no signs, you might have the ticket waved...
It has bee nine years since my last ticket and all of those where deserved, but this time I thought I was going the speed limit, that's what makes me upset about it! At least it wasn't to bad of a fine, $123.
On another note (this doesnt apply to you Marlon in this incident), effective today SGI announced this;
"Increases to financial penalties for serious motor vehicle incidents are being seen as a way to curb high-risk driving behaviours.
SGI is increasing the penalties for Criminal Code driving offences causing death or injury by 400 per cent, from $500 to $2500."
I found this on their website and applies to such things as dangerous driving, impaired driving, criminal negligence, street racing all causing death or bodily harm.
I sure hope it dosen't go on my license, I like my insurance discount where it is!!
On another note got some info on getting my heavy trailer endorsment so I can pull trailers over 10,000lbs. Have to go for a medical and eye exam, three written exams(class 5, sign, and heavy trailer) and a road test. They tell me I can use my truck and trailer, I hope they are right. The book says the trailer has to be over 10,000lbs and my camper is not quite.
