a friend of mine just got a message to me that his truck is putting fuel into the coolant system. he says its a 2003 but he thinks its a 7.3l. i don't know yet because i haven't seen the truck and hes away. Ive left a message for him to get back to me with the Vin.
my question is, is there a known problem as to why the truck would do this, is there a problem around the injectors? someone has told him that he needs the heads done or that the injector tube is leaking.
like i said i haven't seen this truck yet. any help is appreciated.
injector Cups if its a 7.3 . you can leave heads in the truck, thay have tool for them. and make sure he changes all injector o-rings thay not reusable.
why it happens i dont know but i know few guys on 7.3 forum had this happen. make sure what motor he has, the sticker s on DS Valve cover .
on 6.0 might be the same thing or not . i have no idea on 6.0 what would cause this.
i have injector special tools for some john deere injectors but no cup tools, is there any more info or a site i can look at this tool. thanks. or a pic of the problem part.
cheers
The cylinder heads DO have to be removed from the engine to replace the sleeves.
Per Ford repair manual:
Insert the injector sleeve tap and injector sleeve tap pilot into the cylinder head fuel injector bore. Tighten injector sleeve tap 1-1/2 to 2 turns. Attach the Impact Slide Hammer to the injector sleeve tap pilot, and remove the fuel injector sleeve from the cylinder head fuel injector bore. Discard the sleeve. NOTE: Place a plastic cap or small piece of cork to act as a stop, in the injector sleeve before installing the injector sleeve tap, this will prevent damage to the cylinder head bore.
Position the fuel injector sleeve onto the Injector Sleeve Replacer. Apply Threadlock(R) 620 or equivalent to the fuel injector sleeve.
Position the fuel injector sleeve into the cylinder head fuel injector bore. Seat the fuel injector sleeve in the fuel injector bore, using a rubber mallet. Remove Injector Sleeve Replacer tool from the cylinder head fuel injector bore.
I am very familiar with this kind of work, but i havent done a 7.3 yet. i cant see why the heads have to come off. but mainly i need to find the injector cup installer tool. a ford part number or otc or someone the i could get. thanks.
