electrical problems 67 f100

My wife is going to kill me. Just bought a 67 f100 to use as my primary vehicle. On 200 mile delivery home noticed the brake lights were not working (don't know if they did at start) disconnected wires from switch and connected, still no lights. Rear running and turn lights OK. As it got darker discovered that headlights were flashing intermittently, not when going over bumps. even at stop signs, sometimes they'd stay on, other times they'd flash on and off.Help!

Headlights sound like a headlight switch (internal circuit breaker). Had that happen before, not a fun experience. I did the brighter brights, whiter whites relays on mine (see link below). Do the hazard lights work? If they do then it may be the brake light switch on the pedal, since they both use the same element in the rear lamp.

It's most likely the brake switch, your turn sigs work, so put a brake switch in it.

Check the brake switch for the brake lights but don't forget to check dimmer switch on the floorboard for the headlight problem. I've had more than one dimmer switch go bad and they had the same symptoms you described. Drove me nuts the first time it happened. Of course it was the last thing I thought of after spending hours changing out the light switch and tracing all the wiring after the switch replacement didn't fix the problem.

The no brake light power problem is probably the fuse box. They used steel for the contacts, and it gets dripped on, rusts, and then the connectors fall out. It's the lower right fuse in the box.
