Power steering issue..please help!

How is everyone?...this is my first post so Ill make it count. I just purchased a 2003 Navigator and in the mornings or after sitting for a while, the power steering doesnt seem to work for about 10 seconds or so. The steering is very tight and doesnt want to turn. As soon as I pull out of the driveway....all is normal. This happens everytime. The fluid is not low, it does not whine...and it has 90000 on the clock. Has anyone experienced this problem..and if so how to fix it? I suppose the pump could be on its way out..it would be my luck. lol Thanks

Maybe the belt is worn or glazed and is slipping until it warms up a bit.

Another thing I forgot to mention is that the air suspension has been replaced with springs....and I talked to a mechanic today and he said that the air bag system is linked to the power steering system. He sounded like he knew what he was talking about. Does anyone know if there is any truth to this. I personally think that this sounds kinda crazy. He says there is a sensor between the two. MMM... I dont know. I wonder if I could just throw some Pepto in her. lol

Im pretty sure the airbag suspension system is linked with the dynamic power steering system. when you took it out, did you just take out the bags or everything?

Im not sure exactly because I purchased it with the new shocks on it. The dealer said the bags were shot when he took delivery and he just did the conversion. Is there a way to disconnect the two??? It is very annoying and I dont want to hurt something. Thanks for the replies.
