hey guys a friend of mine bough a 1996 powerstroke diesel a couple months ago. it didnt run when he bought it but the guy said that it had algea in the tank. we cleaned the tank and lines cleaned the injecters it has good compressin we had it running but it was only firering on 4cylinders on the one side. we also put a new oil pressure regulater on it do you guys no whats wrong. the truck has 300,000 miles on it. we ran out of ideas. any suggestions would be alot of help. thanxs
CPS is the cam position sensor it is cheap and easy to change about $25 at autozone or napa. IDM is the Injector Drive Module it take the info from the Engine Control Moniter (computer) and tells the injectors when to fire. Expensive from dealer but you can usually find one on ebay for a couple hundred dollars. It is located on the drivers side inner fender, you may just unplug it 5/16" socket check pins and plug it back in. Hope this helps.
