my 97 f350 has 170''000 miles and runs well but i would like to increase mpg and horsepower without going broke not many products available for older diesels
You've came to the right place, their are alot of mods that can be done for cheap or reasonable prices. Starters are intake 6637 and exhaust, min of a down pipe replacement. FPR shim, 14.7 mod, and the list will go on. What kind of power are you wanting to make?
Do the 140 volt mod on IDM, ditch the cat if you stay on this forum you will soon have PMS syndrome. Powerstroke Modification Syndrome. Doesn't take long to catch it.
The guys said it for the most part. You need to let that engine breathe... The 6637 and the 3" downpipe with straight exhaust will be an excellent mod to start out with.
If you looking for cheap power, the ICP mod is a great way to get it. I'd start with a 10 k and move if depending on how your engine likes it. Some engines are a lot more touchy than others with this mod.
Also, when increasing the fuel, it would be recommended that you install a pyrometer to monitor the status of your exhaust temps.
