Burning Oil

I have a question. I am working on a 2000 model f-150 with a 4.2. The truck has good compression on all cylinders, but pours out smoke whenever it runs. You can actually see wet oil on the exhaust. There is also no oil in the intake so no blowby. A couple of plugs looked dirty on both sides. This all of a sudden happened. Could this be a broken oil ring? Any ideas????

Thanks

Byron
