I've been woundering since we havent discused this oil in awhile how good is it. ClassIII or whatever. I change the oil in all of my other vehicales with Mobil1. But my 1991 250 has always been serviced at the ford dealership since new with 3000 mile oil changes with motorcraft oil filters and oil. How good is this oil compared to other brands?
Motorcraft is an excellant oil. I know a lot of people are pretty set on Valvoline, Castrol etc. However I have been using Motorcraft 5w30 in my 5.4 since I purchased it and had an analysis done. It held up really well at 3,000 to 4,000 mile changes. It is basically Conoco Hydroclear motor oil. I have thought of using Chevron Supreme but thought why change for 25 cents per quart. Motorcraft 5w30 and 10w30 are group II+ base stock by the way. It performs close to group III synthetic such as the Castrol Syntec and Valvoline. Hard to beat it in bang for the buck. Maybe only Chevron Supreme can do that. IMO anyway.
Motorcraft 5w30 and 10w30 sell for $1.33 qt. at wally world. That's a great deal on a hydrocracked group II+ oil, that and Cehevron Supreme. I would use either in any vehicle with 4K intervals with no worries.
Purchased my 92 5.0 GT new and Motorcraft 10W-40 has been the only oil ever used in it. It gets changed ever 3000-4000 miles and currently the mileage reads 150,969 with no internal engine problems and still runs strong today.

Glenn . . .
PS - I believe it is a very good oil - are we assuming it's a Conoco oil due to MSDS? I long had a hunch (just a hunch) it was made for Ford by QS (?).

Do not know if it is still there but a year ago it was listed on Conoco's website along with the other MSDS listing. I have not looked in quite some time though.
