c6 troubles

Ive had my truck off the road while i installed a lift over the course of the past few weeks. The lift is done but for some reason it takes a while to shift into 3rd gear. 1st into 2nd is fine but i have to rev the engine sometimes to get it to finally go into third. It will go into third eventually on its own. I have also noticed that when accelerating from a stop or accelerating up hill, the column shift moves around alot like its going to change gears on me and may be shifting between D and N. I also have noticed that when i put the truck in reverse it sometimes wont back up or it will and then i smell a rotten egg smell. I don't know if its time for a new transmission or if it could be a simple fix. Any of you guys ran into this before?

Was the lift a body lift? If so you might have to readjust the trans. shifter linkage. As for the column shift moving around, check the motor and trans. mounts to see if they are bad. If they are bad, the motor is just sitting there with nothing to actually hold it in place. Under high torque situations ( like acceleration) the engine wants to lift out of its mounts throwing everything out of alignment.
As far as the rotten egg smell' you don't say if you have a catalytic conv. or not, but if you do you might be running too rich a fuel mixture. This will make the exhaust smell like rotten eggs.

It was a suspension lift which i know shouldn't have an effect on the shift linkage. I posted this thread while ago, and since i have found that the transfer case bushings pretty much fell apart. The engine mounts seem sound and the transmission mount is there and intact although a new one wouldn't hurt. I don't have a cat. converter but it seems the smell only happens when I'm giving it a lot of gas.
