Nitto Dura Grappler review

I haven't really kept track, but less than a 1000 . I don't commute, and I don't drive long distances often.
But my tire life is SEVERELY shortened by all the around-town driving. I usually get about 10K out of a set of tires if I'm lucky.
Yes, this is the FOURTH set of tires (counting the original stockers as one). The Goodyears were by far the longest-lasting AT's I've ever had, with more than 1/2 the tread left on the rears with around 8000 miles on them...

Thanks Dave, just checked them out. $229 ea. plus shipping comes to about $1069. Discounted wheel warehouse is $193.25 and $60.00 shipping for a total of $833 and change. Put in a price match request with discount tire, we'll see what they can do. Plus wheel warehouse is here in Cali., so I would assume shorter shipping time, but you never know.

And for the record, I have only what, like 2K on them so far, and the nubs on the tread haven't completely worn off yet. And I did do some burnouts testing my SCT tuner from Mike at 5-star

Well I got em in and installed last week, but only got to drive with em for a little bit.....in the shop for head gaskets. I have to get the fronts rebalanced or try swapping them to the rear because I get some good vibration from them. For a highway tire, I like how they look and have nice deep tread! They weren't quite as quiet on the freeway as I was expecting, but still not bad at all. If all goes well at the shop, I will be towing with them from Cali. to Wyoming and back next week.
I could have sworn mine said made in the USA, but I can't verify that at the moment.

In between the original mounting I had done, I put the Goodyears back on for a month or so to do some wheelin' in Upstate NY.
I put the Nittos back on with a borrowed tire machine and didn't balance them. For what it's worth, with NO balance weights whatsoever, they are a little jittery on the highway at 60-70, but nothing horrible.
I've had BFG's that were much worse with no balance weights. The Nittos are not a bad tire, in terms of balancing.
Since I put them back on after the Goodyear Silent Armors, I am amazed at how quiet they are. And the GY's were quiet compared to the Coopers I had for a few years.

They took about 3-4 oz. per tire to balance, not too bad for a 34" tire. As far as noise, they're definitely not loud at all. My last set were Toyo AT's that were pretty well worn that had a little noise, not bad at all(pretty quiet for an AT tire for sure), I just thought the Nittos may be even quieter being a highway tire(an aggressive one no doubt). Like I said, I have very little road time on them at all, hopefully everything will come together and I get a chance to take a good road trip with the and get a good feel for em.

Today I had my Nitto Dura's installed. As I said in post 29, I wasn't satisfied with the Terras. Only have 6,000 miles on the Terras and will be selling them. On the way home, I could easily tell the difference between the two tires, the Duras feel more stable on the road and can handle loads better. More info coming soon.

I got to do some highway miles on the new Duras today and WOW are they quiet. Very stable tire at highway speeds and beyond. Right now I have the air pressure for the rears at 75psi and the fronts at 70psi. I might drop the fronts down to 65 and see how it rides but for now I am extremely happy with these tires.

The Nitto Grapplers look nice but I saw some info saying the tread life was shorter than the BFG's. Well my BFG's are gone at 45k miles, to the wear bar and are dry rotting; they did wear evenly though. So that is why paying ove a grand to buy the relatively new grappler doesn' thrill me and their sizes are limited too.
Krewat, I read your original post for the Goodyear Silent Armors when you bougth them on late December. You were impressed with them at that time and their snow traction. I see you are happy to save them for the winter while testing the Nitto's, how do you rate them now after a few years? Also, you said the STREET Nitto's wer poor in the mud, the snow must be worse and do you know how they perfrom aired down for soft woodsy or desert terrain?
