I recently bought a 2000 F550 Dump Truck with 67,000 miles. It has a small fuel leak with residual diesel fuel showing ontop of the engine block. During idle I noticed it dripping about every 20 seconds or so from a plastic nipple located on the back side from where the fuel filter is. The nipple is adjacent to what appears to be a fuel line (steel line connected with a rubber hose) coming in next to it. I am a rookie and first time owner of a 7.3 and was hoping someone might no what is causing this and how to fix it?
Yeh, that is a good point. i just recieved the truck about 3 weeks ago. The dealer drove the truck from PA to CT. It was very cold then...I had it checked out the day of delivery by my local garage and they picked up on the residual fuel atop the motor. It has since warmed up but the leak continues.
Good luck on the fix...it appears to be pretty simple.
The fix is really quite simple, just follow Guzzle's dirrections, and pictures, I just recently did mine, and I used HIS VITON "O" rings-they are better designed for use with todays ultra low sulpher Diesel fuel, the PO of my truck had the whole drain valve replaced at a Ford dealer for just over $250.00 parts and labor, I ordered 2 sets of the VITON "O" rings from Guzzle and they were $3.00 each, and acording to what I have heard the VITON will last much much longer than the original "O" rings--first time out take your time and follow the dirrections and you will be fine, If I can do it you can!! Good Luck!!
Does anyone think there is a real point to the blue orings guzzle offers? I mean for $6 if it's better right? I need to get some either way, and I think most go with the viton.
