In my distribution box I am adding a maxi and a relay, I have the Maxi taken care of and legs 30 and 87 on the relay done as well. Now 85 is my ground and 86 is to the ignition. On 85, do I ground it to the frame or is there a ground rail somewhere like in a house circuit panel that I am overlooking somewhere? I don't want to gounnd it to frame if there is a way to keep it more factory looking. And when wiring 86 is there an ignition wire under the hood or do I have to piggy back into a wire under the dash? If so does anyone know which wire?
Thanks,
Kevin
Kevin, frame or engine ground is your common ground for everything, so yes, you can ground the relays ground to frame or run it to pump and ground it there. Your call.
Oh ok that makes sense. I am wantin it to be hot for run and start, but I am not using #22, I'm adding its own fuse from an open spot for the pump, but I can do the same on that one I guess. Ok its all coming together. I wanted to be sure on everything before I took it apart and couldnt get it back together. Thanks.
What was involved in adding more fuses to the box? I've been considering some additions, but I hadn't taken a look at this part yet.
You have to buy a spare Fseries fuse box from the junkyard. Take it apart to see how it works and you will have to use the metal connectors inside it.
It's really simple, actually really cool how they designed it. The relay is where I got stumped, figuring out where they all go.
