Hello,
I have a 56 with a 30 year old paint job. I have small blisters all over the rear fenders, they are probably no wider than 1/8" would these be a definate sign of rust or possibly just poor prep work?
It's probably rust starting underneath, so you should definitely take care of it now, before it eats all the way through. But a 30 year old paint job? Doesn't exactly sound like poor prep work.. mine rusted through in 4 years, that's poor prep work.

Hmmm No poor prep work would include the paint, peeling, flaking, or coming off. Rusting thru is well... nobodys fault really, You cannot fix, what you cannot See. Unless that was new metal that was put on, and not undercoated, or sealed properly, the people who painted you vehicle, probably had Nooo idea that was under there.
It might not be rust. Sould like itd just the age of the paint. Paint is alot better than it use to be. I haven't been around older paints that much but I've seen some and its nothing compared to todays paints. Its probably lacquer on the car.
