I guess if you have already owened diesels than you probably
need to know what's the difference between the 6.0 and the 6.4
you already know the differnce between the 7.3 and the 6.0.

When I got my truck it was my first diesel and my first impression was I couldn't believe I never owened one of these before.
Awesome truck. I would imagine the only complaints you'll hear is milage
and the DPF emmission crap now on these trucks seems to bug everyone.

Good luck with your decision

Other than the relatively poor mileage of a stock truck, which makes sense since the truck weights in the 8k lb. range, and the emmisions stuff (which can be removed ) These trucks are amazing.

I went from an 03 F-350 V-10 to my 08 6.4 and it's a world of difference. Power is great, just wait until it's tuned. Towing is out of this world too. I've made a 1500 miles trip with a 20k load 13' high behind me and I could easily keep up with traffic and pass a few loaded Dodges too.

If you can afford to feed it, it will be the best truck you've ever owned.

I have an 09 6.4... went from a 2000 7.3. The 6.4 seems to lag a tad more than the 7.3, but not bad at all...(my 7.3 was a stick). The mileage is about 15 MPG in the city. Too fun to drive, powerful, and with the newer flash, the DPF doesn't bother me at all either.

Overall... Killer truck! Here's a pic...

Got to agree with everyone above. I absolutely love my truck. It is very powerful, handles awesome(even pulling 16K) and is definately the most comfortable solid riding truck I have ever owned.

The negatives:
Due to the EPA mandated emission crap there is a slight lag at takeoff(not bad and you get used to it and the mileage could be better(it is about 2 to 3 mpg less than my 6.0). Other than that I don't have a negative thing to say.

Lots of power, smooth shifting, brakes are great, can't argue with the looks. Love my 350.

Never owned a Ford in my Life. Chevy mechanic for a dealership for the last 10 years. I bought an 08 F250 CC SRW and was very hesitant. But all in all I have come to the conclusion that I love the truck. Its great for power. I towed my trailer with my toy truck on it and it did great. Had to check a couple times to make sure it was there. Love the seats. Alot more comfortable then my chevy was. I plan on buying another ford when my wifes truck dies.

Nothing new to add but I will kick in my 2 cents to support the previous posts. To me the 6.4 is like combining the 7.3 and 6.0. It has power and torqshift tranny like a 6.0 but "so far" it has compared to the 7.3 in quality and durability. there are a few guys with problems but hell I can buy a dozen eggs and find a cracked one every now and then. In other words, there are way more good ones than bad ones.

To compare the interior, ride, brakes, frame, options, etc, etc is not even a fair fight.

Biggest down sides are reduced mpg due to emissions, sluggish from 0-15 mph due to emissions, and they arent as mod friendly as the 7.3 and 6.0.
