With all of the FICM issues now a days I would replace both of them no questions asked. You are livivng on barrowed time with the "good" on at best. make the investment and buy a good set of batteries.
Definitely replace both. If you replace one and the other is going bad, it will overload the good battery and shorten it's life. Best to replace them in pairs. It's more up front but will be better in the long run (longer life out of the batteries and you won't get stranded without enough juice to crank it over).
^^^Like Sarge said change BOTH. The one that "seems good" now will damage your new battery if you were to replace only one. And you also run the chance of your alternator failing too...forcing it to work too hard to keep them both charged.
If you replace just one, the new battery will likely want to charge to a higher voltage than the old one, and when the vehicle is shut off, the old battery will drain the new one down to it's desired level. In addition, as the old battery gets older, it will start to sulfate, thus lowering the voltage it wants to charge to even more, and lowering the overall charge capacity .......And, if you reuse one battery, it's life expectancy is fairly low, so you'll be looking at troubles or replacing another battery in a short time.
Replace them both.

So, what do you guys consider a "good battery" to buy? I was eyeing up an Optima for the vehicle that I traded for my truck. I've read some good things about them. Anyone have experience with them? Other recommendations?
I put the Motor Craft prmiums in my truck, they have a 96 or 04 month replacement warranty, 36 month free replacement warranty. I had an Optima in my F-150 and it sucked. Others here have good luck with the Optima...but for the money you will spend on 1 battery I think there are better choices out there...that ofcourse is just my .02
I put in Duralasts 1,000 cranking, 850 cca for $79 ea. from Autozone and yes there are more of them around than Ford dealers or Costco's. They are 3 yr. free replacement and either 7 or 8 yr. pro-rated.

Had an Optima Red Top in my '97 F-150 for 4 years with no problems. I have 2 Red Tops in my rig now (about a year) and don't have any problems. 800cca each. I was interested in the yellow tops that have a little more reserve but they were a little more $$$ and only had 750cca each. I'm not sure about your 6.0, but my 7.3 needs around 1400-1450cca to turn my beast over.
I have read about people having issues with them, but I never have. Plus they're sealed and maintenance free! I do a lot of off-roading so that's a definite plus. I know other people use other brands (Motorcraft, Diehard, etc.), but as long as I have good luck with the Optimas I'll stick with them. Worth the extra dough IMHO.
Ive always had good luck with the autozone 1000 amps. had them in any truck I kept long enough to need to replace the stock bat. Now will everyone please quit talking about dead batteries, I had to jump mine off yesterday and have been running scared ever since. LOL
Replace both. I had the same issue a while back. I still have the premium care ESP so I took it to the dealer and replaced one on warranty. It took 3 months or so and the truck started cranking slow again. I took it back and the tech told me he should've replaced both but the warranty would have been questionable. He replaced the older one on the ESP warranty and the new one on a parts warranty. The are Motorcraft 850cca's.
I bought both of mine at the same time from autozone and I was told if I have a problem they would warranty both since I bought them at the same time. I've had issues getting warranty b4 with them wanting to do the charge the batt and chk it thing.... Takes 30+ mins to charge and check btw hopefully I won't have problems
