I have damaged my oil pan on 01 F-350 4x4. I need to remove it, braze hole in it, and replace it. What does is take to get it off? Will I need to raise the engine? Do I need to do anything with tranny?
Thanks!
WHen I did my headers, I had to disconnect the motor mounts to get some access. There was only about 2 inches of vertical movement before the tranny dipstick was hitting the firewall/tranny tunnel if I remember correctly.
However, the V10 is a deep-skirt block, the crank does not stick out below the bottom of the block, at least not by much. So, there might be enough room.
Thanks! We are trying now! BTW, if you change bushings on your sway bar, be SURE to put the bar back on with the center curve down instead of up.... With the curve up, the bar hits the oil pan when you hit a bump...
I'm pretty sure the trans tube is just an O-Ring.
The tube is attached to the back of the passenger side head. Can be a pain to get to if the intake is on. Photos available in this thread: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...ound-head.html
Check carefully of other things that could hit as you lift! I recall a trans connector and/or O2 sensor connectors on top of bell housing. Also watch out for throttle cable where it comes out of firewall. All those are easy to crush.
