ok i have an 84 ford f 250 4x4 it has srw on it right now iam wanting to convert it to a dually i found a set of wheels i can buy but dont wanna buy them before i know if they will work.....if anyone knows what ill need to make it work id appreciate any help ..oh and it does have a one ton rear end ....thanks ...
If it has a 1-ton rear it should not be a problem to put the duels on,as it would already have the proper lug nut, etc. If it is a heavy 3/4 ton it should still work{ has floating axel that sticks out from center of wheel} should still work. If it has the light rear end{flat at center of wheel} then it may require changing lug studs, however it may not have heavy enough brakes, etc to handle the extra tires. You will also need to work on bed clearance. You will have to trim and move in the rear wheel tub as well as add flares or such to out side of bed.
you will need to change the front brakes to,won't look right.plus like franklin2 said you will need two different spares unless you change the front .plus doesn't the rear need spacers or diferent rear hubs plus longer studs???
I thought there was a difference in spring spacing between a DRW and SRW axle. Didn't someone try this and the inner wheel contacted the leaf spring? I would test fit a set of the wheels on your truck before purchasing. You would also need to get a set of dually front hubs to make all the wheels the same. Thats not something you have to do though, I've seen plenty of trucks with the dually wheels on back and regular wheels on the front. The spare tire could be an issue though.
