So they do have fix for this, because (don't tell anyone) I am considering a Flex as a future replacement for Aerostars.

When I took my AWD Taurus X back for the second time it took over a week while they got an updated seal from Ford to fix it. Ford knows there is an issue with poor designed seals and has changed the seal. The Flex, Edge and Taurus all use the same powertrain, so one made after April 2009 should not have this problem.
