Upgrade the cam and intake, install longtube headers and a 2.5" single exhaust.. no shorties or duals if you want maximum TQ. The heads could use some work too, if you have the budget find a set of GT40's from an Explorer and have them shaved down to increase compression. If not port a set of E7's from an '87+ motor and have those shaved down too. If you are rebuilding the bottom end you could install flattop pistons and that will raise compresion enough you don't need to shave he heads.
Thanks! I was thinking about a eddlebrock top end kit for now until i save up some more money for other stuff. whats your take on this? and what about stroker kits? i think when i have enough money this would be a great mod
Stroker? Yes absolutely. And the top end kit is also good but I'd suggest a cam that doesn't bias the powerband to the high end as much, think 260-270 duration instead of the 290-300 duration the Eddy 7182 cam has.
I was also thinking about maybe getting it bored out .030 over and putting stroker, GT-40 heads on like you said, holly carb, edlebrock intake, etc. instead of a top end kit. whats your take on this? I think it will give me more options.
