Short v.s. long block

The 400 in my 79 has rattled for abit, oil pressure is near nothing after the engines at running temp. The top end is bearly two years old. I love driving my truck, but it's time to do something.
I've heard countless horror story's about remanufactured engines, and really thinking about a reman, short block since my top end is fresh. I know I can rebuild it myself, but it would be easy to get a reman short or long block and have my truck back.
Any takes from you all on who to stay away from, and who do you like.

I have never sold any but have seen a lot of long blocks go out the door at Oreilly's never to come back again. I would buy one from Oreilly's we don't sell short blocks any more!

You are right about your top end it would suck just to trade it in as a core!

IM me the price the give you and I will see if i can do you any better. get the part # they are quoting you. get the cheaper warranty the higher ones just cover labor if a shop puts it in.

you can rebuild that whole motor in an afternoon . . . .for half the price of the block you priced... as long as the cylinders arent marred to baddly. . . sounds to me though, that your oil pump is going out, giving less oil to the lifters creating your rattle..... perhaps a pump change is in order?
