locks wont stop

my locks will not stop the unlock cycling, I disconnected the RAP and the GEM and all five doors one at a time cleaned all connections that I could find with electrical cleaner checked the wire harness going to each door, and replaced the relays, I can't make them stop without pulling the relays in the rear quarter
any advice would be helpful

The lock switches ground the voltage from the relays, sounds like you've got a bare wire someplace thats grounding out.

relays are good, I have now isolated the offending wire and cut it at the relay, the remote will unlock the drivers door only right now all the others work either manually or if I crawl in the hatch that switch still works. I'm going out now to follow the wires through the body to where they splice to go to either front door, I hope I find something obvious!

Just curious how you verified the relays were good.

apply 12 volts across the #1 &2 and check for continuity across #3 &4 , should be open check #3&5 should be closed. remove voltage and your readings, should be the opposite. there is a schematic on the side of the relay, the snap is good and strong with no buzzing, they are just doing what they are told to. when I cut the signal wire and they stopped I ran a resistance test to ground and could see the cycling. I found the splice and re soldered the connection , don't know if that was the problem, but everything has been reconnected and is working properly, just moving the wires around might have been enough to fix it I guess.

Question Door problems - '97 Explorer XLT

Speaking of doors, I've got a couple issues on my '97 Explorer. First is the master switch in the driver's door. Apparently its gone bad, so now when I open the door, interior lights don't come on, etc. The worst thing about it is that I've grown used to the beeper telling me my headlights are on. I've left them on a few times and drained the battery. How easy / difficult is it for a mechanical novice to replace the master switch?

Second is the interior door handle on the rear door. My 7-year old pulled it all the way out while the door was locked. I pushed it back in, but now it doesn't work at all. The exterior handle still works fine. Same question, how easy/difficult is it for a mechanical novice to fix that?

Probably best to start a new thred for this but the quick answer to you questions is that it is not that difficult. In both instances, you will have to remove the dor panels. I would try flogging the switch on the driver's door with WD-40 before I pulled the door handle to replace. This oftern works.

Hey - I just wanted to follow up on this. I did have to have the front door switch replaced, and I put a new interior handle on the back door. The plastic teeth in the rear door handle were broken off. I bought the part from Carquest for $13 and found step by step instructions for removing the door panel and replacing the handle online. It was really easy.

Thanks again for your help.
