Hi all, fficeffice" /><O></O> New to the board, my 04 F250, 5.4 started running rough this week (at idle & acceleration). I have changed plugs and o2 sensors with no luck. The exhaust does have a sulfur smell to it when I shut it off. It has 67,000 miles and I was probably leaning toward checking the COPs next. Anyone have any suggestions?<O></O>
Just checked the WWW--one suggestion was to put premium gas in the tank and go for a long drive at highway sppeds to try and get the accumulated sulpher out of the cat. The other option was to change the cat--I'd try the first suggestions.
Pull codes....could still be the COPS, many times it'll set a code and NOT set CEL. I did this on my Lincoln with the COPS. Pulled codes and found one bad coil. I left the scantool installed and drove it around the block and waited till I felt it miss then stopped and rechecked for codes. Found it, replaced the COP and, fixed! I had a spare COP handy.
