Question Running Really Rough

Hi all,fficeffice" /><O></O>
New to the board, my 04 F250, 5.4 started running rough this week (at idle & acceleration). I have changed plugs and o2 sensors with no luck. The exhaust does have a sulfur smell to it when I shut it off. It has 67,000 miles and I was probably leaning toward checking the COPs next. Anyone have any suggestions?<O></O>

Could it be a bad cat converter or O2 sensor?

The air filter looks ok (almost new). I just changed the o2 sensors. I thought about the cat, but it seem to happen suddenly.

I don't suppose you've had a check engine light yet have you?

COPs seem to be a good culprit for this behavior from what I've read.

Sorry I don't have much to offer, I'm mainly subscribing to this to see everyone's responses in case I have this problem with my '04 5.4L.

Good Luck!

Just checked the WWW--one suggestion was to put premium gas in the tank and go for a long drive at highway sppeds to try and get the accumulated sulpher out of the cat. The other option was to change the cat--I'd try the first suggestions.

I filled up with premium yesterday. I thought it might be bad fuel at first. I will take it for a longer drive today to see if it impoves.

This is an excelent site, it is full of helpful info and lots of good feedback. thanks to all!

Pull codes....could still be the COPS, many times it'll set a code and NOT set CEL. I did this on my Lincoln with the COPS. Pulled codes and found one bad coil. I left the scantool installed and drove it around the block and waited till I felt it miss then stopped and rechecked for codes. Found it, replaced the COP and, fixed! I had a spare COP handy.
