I got this from the SOCALS forum just to give you guys an idea of how great the 6637 is.<HR style="COLOR: #d1d1e1; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #d1d1e1" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->
After I can only imagine at least 20k hard miles including all our trips to the sand, I finally got around to replacing my filter... got the old one out and shook just a little bit of sand out of it
Hard to tell in that pic but the pile is probably two inches high...
Now, where it came from...
Lo and behold, after couple years, it's still clean as a whistle inside!
And just as a precautionary measure, I checked the turbo... looks good to me (I've seen a couple all tore up from much less ingested debris too!)
Put a new one in and called it a day...
Anyway, just surprised me how much junk it took and still kept clean!!
Wow. I think that thing screams for Pete's cover. Hope you suggested that to him. Of course, I'd never let a filter get that dirty, but that's an impressive amount of sand.
He *might* want to clean up the engine bay a bit, too.
I'm still thinking that in a really dirty environment like that, Pete's cover might load up too much too fast and start choking flow. I hope he gets that flow study done soon...
I would be inclined to check pads and shoes for wear first, unless there is a leak somewhere. Brake fluid doesn't evaporate, so imho, if its low, there is a reason! I also think its a good idea to flush and change the brake fluid every couple of years - especially on ABS-equipped trucks...
I changed my first 6637 at 50k miles for the hell of it - it looked nothing like that one though! Still want one of Pete's covers for it.
