Left, or Right?

When documentation refers to "Left side of engine" or "Right side of engine", how is that determined? Is it right side when standing in front of the vehicle, looking into the engine compartment? Or is it the right side of the engine when sitting behind the stearing wheel? Specifically, the motor mounts are labled "Right" and "Left". Which one goes on the driver's side of the engine?

Left unless I'm sadly mistake. Any reference I have seen has always been from the driver position. Not to say some Chinese made part hasn't got instructions from an engineer who looks at the world from another perspective.

Redmanbob is correct. Everything referred to as on the left is from the driver's point of view. Otherwise the left side (driver's side of the car) is always left and the passenger side is always right. Regardless of where you are standing.
