Code 512
Hi Everyone:
My truck has Code 512. I did tons of troubleshooting yesterday. I ohmed all the grounds from the ECM plug to the battery when it was disconnected, and they were all OK. I checked for KAM power at the plug...12.5 volts to body and through pins 20, 40 & 60. I checked out all the sensor that can be with a volt meter. OK.
I watched the datastream on our scanner for hours. The truck shut down on me 3 times. It would just shut off and throw no codes or give any indication why on the data stream. It would shut off like I turned the key. The truck will go in and out of Closed Loop, but prefers Open Loop. I have driven it 30 minutes to work in Open Loop. The other day, I got a CEL on the way to work so I rushed it into the shop and got the scanner on it. CEL was on, but no active codes. After watching the scanner for a while, it died on me.
My O2 sensor is showing rich condition, but reading lean (.2 volts). In a desparate move, I replaced it out. It didn't help.
I'm assuming my ECM is bad because all the sensor check out, I have Code 512, and a CEL with no active codes. I'm just hoping that somebody can help me confirm this. I know condemning ECM's is hard, but I think that is the problem.
