I'm guessing that I already know the answer to this, but maybe someone can offer a little input. I've got fuel dripping off the glass bowl of my fuel pump but it looks like it's coming out of the hole in the body of the pump where I'm assuming drive arm pivots. Time for a new pump???
Oh yeah, it drips about one drop every 2-3 seconds... not great for fuel economy, I'm pretty sure...
Thanks,
-Mark

You have a 6 cylinder, or 292 if there's a glass bowl on the fuel pump.
Inside that glass bowl is (supposed) to be a fuel filter.
The bowl is held to the pump by a bail and nut.
The gasket between the bowl and the pump is cork.
Cork shrinks due to age and heat, allowing gas to seep out.
If the fuel is leaking from the glass bowl, replace the fuel filter as it comes with a new gasket.
C3TZ9365A .. Fuel Filter (Motorcraft FG16)
No longer available from Ford, but autoparts stores should have it, the cars used the same one from 1952 thru 1964.
GREEN SALES CO. in Cincinnati OH has 23 = 800-543-4959.
I had a 64 with a 223 and glass bowl setup. You can go buy a new aftermarket pump, remove the lower section and reinstall your glass bowl for looks. You will then have a new pump and all new seals. The only old part will be your glass bowl. New pump was fairly cheap if I remember. You will need to have an inline filter since I don't think the new pump has anything like that.
Napa has new pumps for a little over $40; of course without the glass bowl. I have an inline fuel filter that I've replaced once or twice in the 15 years that I've had the truck. I'm thinking maybe the PO took the filter out of the glass bowl and went with an inline filter??? I'll know for sure when I get into it. I'll probably wait a day or two... raining today.
I'm sorry, I should have started the post with: '64 F100 4x4 with a 292.
I know what your talking about with the oil leak at your fuel pump. Mine leaks a little out of the vent hole. You can idle the truck all day long and its as dry as a bone. Then you take it out and run it a freeway speeds for about 10 miles and theres a little oil on the out side of the pump. These fuel pumps have been a big pain in the a$$ for me. My original one leaked oil big time out the same place as yours. I then got a replacement and it died with in a week, returned that one and got one that leaked oil, returned that one a got one that leaked fuel. I fixed that one and it worked for about six months now it leaks some oil. All I want is a fuel pump that works and doesn't leak!!!!!!
Sorry I'm not done ranting yet. I almost forgot I also got a fuel pump that ran fine at idle and made the truck miss at high rpm. I put a gage on the pump and it was only putting out about 1.5 psi. Ok I'm done now. Thanks for listening
check the oil, for a fuel smell. Not sure about the I6 but the old FE's had a problem with fuel dropping into the crankcase via a bad fuel pump. Washed cylinders don't lube well.
