Hey guys I was wondering if the turbo from a 97 PSD will work on my 96. I have stock turbo with no IC (yet) and wanted to know if that turbo would be an upgrade in any way or if it is a direct bolt in. Any help would be great I have to buy it before its gone!!!

Is there anyway to turn the boost up a little. Im not even sure how our turbos work (meaning what governs the boost psi?) Do they have a waist gate? If so, can stuff be changed easily and cheaply to turn the turbos up a little?

No waste gate on our turbo's. The only way to get more boost is to add more fuel. Search 10K mod. its an easy fuel upgrade that give a little boost in power.
Ok cool. So then what model truck do I need to get a turbo off of that would bolt up to my manifolds and be somewhat of an upgrade without breaking the bank?

There aren't any cheap bolt up upgrades. The D66 from Bean's diesel performance is a modified stock turbo and is the only option for an upgrade that is bolt in but its $1100. There are two other exhaust housings available for a stock turbo. They are both smaller for fast spool up but with that comes higher EGT's. Stock exhaust (turbine) housing is a 1.15 A/R and there is a 1.0 and .84 available. If you ever plan on larger injectors I highly recommend keeping the stock housing.
Other than that there are other turbo options but unless you fab up the mounting kits yourself they run around $2000-2500 and up.
Ok I see. Well thanks for the knowledge man I appreciate it. Im trying to do all I can gettin ready for Dyno Day in April!!! Wish you could make it I would like to see that beast in person and shake your hand.

Thanks again,

No problem. Sure wish I could make the dyno too! I might have a few more mods by then.....
Saw this recently, and it caught my eye, havent done anything with it yet so I cant entirely vouch for em but,... Search turbos in ebay there is a ebay store in the keys or somewhere around there I forget exactly where. That store sells new custom built turbos for our trucks around $750 that are ported polished run the 1.00 turbine housing and a Banks wicked wheel impeller for more boost pressure, and no core charge. Again they run the smaller housing for faster spool up so there is a slight EGT concern depending on your app.

That turbo is a crock! I think the shop is in Puerto Rico. Its nothing more than a stock turbo with air filter side of the housing machined out a little. The Banks wheel is the same as a stock OBS compressor. The only mod on the turbo that you would even notice is the 1.0 turbine hosing.
For the price and lack of warranty Ron's turbo shop on eBay is a better place to buy a stock turbo.
Rons turbo in Utah seems real good. Just wondering has anyone heard of the 99.5 compressor wheel being used in our housings and if so is it a good mod when re-building the turbo.
