The tuners for the transmission that I'm familiar with are the tuners you get for the engine. As for mods to the tranny, a transgo kit, or you can order a valve body from BTS or John Woods I believe. An aftermarket torque converter would be a nice addition. There is a mod mentioned on here about installing a switch to manually lock and unlock the torque converter clutch. An aftermarket tranny cooler will help for a longer life.

Welcome to guzzle's TC Lockup Mod Web Page This is what I was thinking of, but I think it's for later model trucks, 99 to 03 models I believe.

yeah that link didn't really explain it to well

thanks.

so this lock if used properly should help prevent
slippage in the tc and tranny thus keeping it cooler right?
just to be clear.

it is a purple wire with a yellow tracer on the drivers side frame. use a suit case splice, splice into it and use another wire to run to a two way switch. thats all you need. no ground or the tc will be locked all the time. i kick it in at 2000 rpm in 2nd gear. i love it. i dont see a change in temp on my gauges while using it. keeps rpms down and helps for slowing down at lights or with a load on. hope this helps.

so from the two-way switch i run a wire to the ground? and i can expect the OD to be flashing right?

should i get better or worse fuel mileage with this tc lock?

How will it shift with it locked?

sorry for all the questions i am hearing about this for the first time.

You do have to turn it off when coming to a stop, is that correct?

i wouldnt engage it untill 2000rpm in 2nd gear because of fluid pressure. when i keep my rpms down i get better mileage so if used right you may see a slight increase. do not use a ground. if you do the tc will always be locked and your truck wont move far. just one wire from the purple and yellow to a two way switch thats it. donot cut the wire splice into it. od light will not flash and your shifts should be better. mine are. and if you dont turn the switch off while slowing down your truck will push through the brakes slowly until it stalls. thats what mine does.

nothing all you need is one wire from the purple and yellow one to one side of the switch thats it. no ground no power.

My understanding is that the tc locks when grounded---so one wire to line side ofthe switch and the load side goes to ground. When switch is off no ground to tranny=no lock----when switch is on tc solenoid is grounded so it locks
