Am fixing up a '83 Ranger std cab, short wheel base. It has the 2.8 carburetor V6 C3 auto. My sticking point is, I need a new (yes, I've done all the checks, its bad) fuel tank sending unit. I have checked all sources that i know of, LMC, J.C. Whitney, sleezbay, etc....
Is there a place i am missing that might carry this style sending unit?
Thanks.
summit and napa online have 'em, but theyre are pricey like 80-90$ and up
I fix mine by taking them apart, cleaning the contacts and safety wiring them back together. check it with a VOM before re-insertion. S/b about 10 ohms full, about 100 ohm empty.
seems the reformulated "winter" gas with it's oxygenated compounds rusts and corrodes the fine components after about 6 mos.
the other problem will be with the float, which gets pinhole leaks and sinks to the bottom of the tank, acts much like broken sender. I replace those with 72-73 VW superbug (or equivalent) plastic floats.

E3TZ9275A .. Fuel Sending Unit-Midship Tank / Obsolete
Fits: 1983 Ranger / No Ford Dealer or obsolete parts vendor has any.
I have been lucky prowling the junkyards for these parts, as I have a 84 dual tank 4x4 Ranger with the 2.8. So far I have had to do both tanks, and luckily the donor sender units both worked perfectly. Also, what piotrsko said will also work well!....Good luck!

Thats what i am going to check next, grab all i can i guess, while i'm there.
Next idea that crossed my pea brain was to order a tube style float from saqy summit, jegs, and have a bung welded (all safety precautions taken) in to the top and use that style like they use in a fuel cell.
