ok well this evening i went to the store and my mom rode with me, well i decide to do a 0-80 lol just cause i could, well im thinking that my governer is not factory, i have 3:55 gears t-19 and 285/75/16 buckshot mudders, i take off in first all the way to the governer, about 25 mph, 2nd, 40mph, third 75, and i still didnt really hear the governer kick on, but by that time it was sounding like it was going to suck my hood into the engine lol, so i shifted into fourth and let off well just a second after i let off it done something like a surge and my foot wasnt on the throttle at all, and it kept doing it till the engine got down to idle, then it didnt do it no more, and i got to say thid is the fastest non turbo idi i have ever rode or drove, im not even sure if i need a turbo, but i dint have a tach so i dont no my rpm, did i over wind it? governer not working right??
seeing as i havent picked up my truck yet i havent had a real chance to butt dyno it, but with a 5 speed(dunno which tranny number it is) and 4.10 factory locker i am sure i can get off the line well, but those 4.10s are gonna hurt my top end...as for getting off the line, i would spin the tires less in 4H than 2H...hmmm
trust me i sure as hell wasnt doing 53 in third trust me!!! i have raced a person in a quarter mile distance and never get out of third and they said the came across the line doing about 70, and we were neck to neck, so my speedo is not off, my real big question is why did it do crazy surging after i let off and shifted into fourth and never touched the pedal
Its doable, my 87 F150 had a T18 and it could run 60 in 3rd, but she was screaming, it also had a 4.10 in the back tho, so young runnign 53 in 3rd is doable, she was probably deep in the yellow, but probably doin it.
if there still facotry then i got 3.55 gears, t-19 im beginging to wonder if my govener is set to factory cause it really sounds like the hood is going to go into the motor.lol
It def sounds like your governor has been fooled with.
Mine really doesn't surge, but I did drive a dumptruck with a Cat 3208 in it that would surge when shifting gears because the motor would be wound up, but when you let off the throttle and mashed the clutch the motor would wind down so fast that the IP would think it was stalling then max out pressure then it would cut all fuel because it would think that it was overrevving.
