One of the wires going to the speedo was the speed sensor (gray/black). The reverse wire is black/pink, and I tapped into that at the relay on the fuse panel. It was clearly marked in the owner's manual (the relay - not the wire).
This sounds like it might be a job for a pro, I have a guy who said he would do it for me for $150

If you can dremel out the opening for the double din head unit, you can pull the speedo and fuse panel.

The hardest thing was finding room for all the wires and other components:

Sirius receiver and adapter, steering wheel interface, wiring harnesses, and long wires for the satellite antennas.

I soldered all connections, and used heat-shrink tubing to insulate. It was not an insignificant project, and I can see paying someone $200 or more to do it - especially if there is a rear-view camera involved.

No rear view camera, no steering wheel controls as the 04 F250 does not have them.
Only the head unit and the XM tuner. I have installed many car radios in my time but never when I had to find wires in the fuse box etc. I do not have a dremel but I guess I could get one, I can always use new tools .

Curious to know, those with the X and a factory DVD player... were you able to integrate that? I have an '05 which came with the wireless headphones.

I am back to doing the job on my own, primarily because I have the radio now and found that the F700BT does not have the VSS wire.

I can't figure out which dash kit to use, I have read on avic411 to use the metra 99-5805 but I can't find that kit, it is on backordered for weeks. Anyone know of another dash kit that works well on a 04 F250. Also...which dremel bit did you find worked well for the trimming?

I went into the local Best Buy, and picked up the cable kit and mounting kit. I just asked for the Ford Excursion double DIN mounting kit, and they had 2 in stock.

$40 (rip off) for the 4 pieces of plastic.

Thanks, what dremel bit did you use?

I will continue to look for a kit, I know there is a scosche kit that should work but it does not appear to fit a double din radio at least from the pictures although the description says it is double din, it is pn FD1330B and I think I can find this at Wally World.

The bit I used was cylinder shaped - a cutting bit. I was shaving and cutting. The dash had a couple of reinforcement beams that I had to trim down, and the screws that secured the dash to the chassis would not fit with the stereo in place.

The double DIN kit that I got had a middle beam - like it was designed to support 2 single DIN units. The center beam just pushed out though.

Did you add Sirius HD radio? If so what Sirius/Pioneer components did you use? Thanks

I ordered everything off Amazon. Once I figured that the F900BT was the unit I wanted, Amazon kept suggesting the optional components ("Others who purchased this item also purchased..."). It actually worked out quite well, and I was able to find everything I was looking for - and read some informative reviews:

- Pioneer AVIC-F900BT In-Dash Navigation Audio/Video Receiver with DVD Playback and Advance Voice Controls
- SIRIUS SCC1 SIRIUS Connect Universal Tuner
- Pioneer CD-SB10 - Sirius Bus Interface for use with Pioneer SAT Radio Ready Headunits and AV Receivers
- High Resolution License Plate Rear View Camera with Night Vision/distance Tracker
- PAC SWI-PS Sony and Pioneer Steering Wheel Radio Control Interface

I tried to order the iPod cable, but it was sold out. I picked one up at Best Buy, but it won't charge my iPhone. This seems to have been fixed in newer cables - I've ordered one from eBay for $12 plus $1 for shipping to Canada. Nope.

Have you seen some of the posts on the different HD radio options in AVIC411.com Looks like there were some quality problems with the P10 units, and the P20 units are the way to go:

OK, So in addition to the AVIC F-90BT head unit in order to receive HD radio & Sirius radio, I need the HD radio tuner a P20 unit, The Sirius Bus Interface (CD)-SB 10 and don't I need a Sirius tuner? like a SCC1 unit?
I am in the dark on this one. Help I am going down for the third time.

The SCC1 just talks to the Sirius bus. The F90BT only talks to its iBus. The Pioneer SB10 connects them together.

Also check out crutchfield.com. They seem to have excellent customer service. You could call them, and they'll tell you everything you need.

There prices aren't too bad either.

I am trying to install the F700BT in an 04 F250 using the Metra 99-5805 kit and have run into a couple of snags:

1) the trim bezel that came with the kit does not fit over the front of the radio
2) the kit did not come with the rear clip bracket

Advise appreciated
