Heavy custom springs

Ordered some custom made rear springs for my 00 f350 dually diesel 4x4 last week. The reason is I pull a cattle trailer and when loaded it's about 20,000 pounds and would squat the truck down. their supposed to hold 1,000 pounds more per side, and my question was do you think they will make much difference? My mechanic is the one who sold me on them he said that with that much load air bags would blow out or blow lines off. Let me know what u think.

Leaf springs made with 1/2 inch steel and with more arch than stock. also more leaves. the web site is Heritage Machine & Welding | Bloomington, IL about 60 miles from my house.

Air bags will not blow out. We've hauled up to 27,000 pounds on Dad's truck ('03 F-250 6.0 SRW) and nothing has blown. The truck will set level. Dad had a set of Firestone Ride Rites on his '96 and suspension still looked new at 280k miles.

Can't say anything about the springs but I'd check out Firestone bags if they don't help.

I agree. The airbags are designed for this purpose. As a side note, I'd rather go with the airbags than stiffer or heavier leaves. The airbags supplement your factory leaves and will give you better ride characteristics than replacement leaves in most cases. Plus, the airbags are adjustable so you can add / remove air as needed.
